With every holiday comes the inevitable social media #fails. We all remember the 9/11 anniversary advertising tie-ins that caused outrage amongst the public. AT&T and Marriott were just one of many that used the day of remebrance in an exploitative fashion.
Yesterday on MLK Day, the same thing happened. You have to wonder who the people are that approve this stuff. It’s better to just stay silent then make an inappropriate attempt at jumping on the holiday’s viral bandwagon. Also, if your brand has ZERO relation to the holiday (we’re talking to you @ZzzQuil) – then there is a 99.9999% chance you are going to offend someone. Just don’t. do. it.
