Is the era of the digital physician on its way? Maybe. According to a reputation management survey conducted by MedData Group, “twice as many physicians in their 30s manage their reputations compared to physicians in their 50s and 60s.”
Online reviews and reputation management is probably the biggest example of how the new digital world is impacting physicians and the healthcare industry. Surprisingly, nearly 50 percent of physicians surveyed said they do not actively manage their online reputations – despite the fact that nearly half of all patients say that the reputation of a doctor matters when choosing a new provider. And 35 percent of patients say they actively seek out online reviews when making their decisions.
Social media is making an increasingly greater impact on physicians – whether they want to admit it or not. While more than half surveyed believe that social media currently doesn’t impact their online reputation, 57 percent say that social media WILL have an impact in the future.
