Twitter’s new image-focused update was one of those punches.
We all know that Twitter was looking for ways to become more advertiser-friendly. As Facebook has shown us, images are one of the easiest ways to do that. But the controversy here is that Twitter started as a text platform. It WAS an easy way to get snippets of news and updates, not long story rants from your high school buddies.
Also, the images were’ cropped in a way (before you click on it to expand) so that advertisers had to adjust. The focus on the picture has to be centered otherwise all you see are midriffs.
What adjustments did you make? Did you unfollow any account specifically due to the change?
Twitter rolled out a new expanded photo and video feature this week that fills its users’ timelines with full-sized images, but not everyone is enamored of the new look or the reasons for it.
