Beyond Food and Sunsets: Why You Should Be On Pinterest

When you first think of Pinterest, what comes to mind? Is it more than just pictures of food, sunsets, and David Beckham in the lastest H&M ad? Well if it’s not, it definitely should be! While Pinterest is of course populated by foodies and brides planning their dream weddings, Pinterest is also driving the 2nd most referral traffic of any social media site (behind Facebook, which is #1).

And what’s more than just referral traffic, Pinterest is actually leading to conversions, making it a crucial new piece of social media marketing for retail businesses. Pinterest’s conversion rate, 1.65%, is actually higher than Facebook’s, at 1.13%.

Maybe your business is already active on Pinterest, but maybe it’s not. Don’t worry, it’s not too difficult to get started. First start by joining Pinterest as business, and adding a “pin it” badge to your site. This allows visitors to your website to pin images from your site on their boards, and those images will link back to your site, which means more traffic.

Now that you’re on Pinterest, you can start creating boards and pinning content. Share things that are relevant to your business as well as things that might be interesting for your followers, such as things that inspire your business or your favorite places in the city you are located.  Share content from your company’s blog, and ask your blog reader’s to start following you on Pinterest. This will help grow your following and provide another avenue for people to be redirected to your website from Pinterest.

Check out some of our earlier blog entries for posting ideas and ways to get more followers. For a more step by step guide on setting up Pinterest for your business, continue to the original article from copyblogger.

And of course, don’t forget to follow us on Pinterest!
